Hi there! My name is Dorian Echasseriau. I’m a Mechanical Engineering, History, and Museums and Cultural Heritage student at Rice University.

As a licensed pilot, my love for aviation can not be overstated. I have made it my mission to make this wonderful field more efficient, accessible, and environmentally friendly. With the aviation sector transforming itself in the next few decades as a result of transitioning to sustainable energies and evolving technologies, my optimism directs me toward engineering the aircraft and spacecraft of the future.

My STEM background is best exemplified by my work on Rice Flight, Rice AIAA’s RC competition team, and Rice Eclipse, the Rocketry team. Before that, my six years of FIRST Lego League robotics competitions. During this time, my team won the French national championship twice, among many other awards, from research project distinctions to international judges’ awards.

Furthermore, I am a passionate filmmaker and video producer, having produced two short films, three documentaries, and multiple school trip videos. My commitment to my community is unwavering, as during high school, I have volunteered at and filmed countless community plays, graduations, and other events over the past half-dozen years.

On another axis, I am a passionate advocate for democracy and civic involvement. I currently serve as the Director of Events for Rice Young Democrats, the largest political organization on the Rice campus, coordinating all of our meetings: both speaker events and general body meetings.

In high school, I also engaged through various organizations I founded, led, or joined, from the Human Rights Team and the Gender and Sexuality Alliance to Model United Nations and the Stage Management Club, to name a few.

The rigorous Lycée International de St-Germain-en-Laye, American Section, pushed me both in the classroom, driving me to obtain Highest Honors with Praise (Mention Très Bien avec les Félicitations du Jury), and out of it, as I have pursued AP English Literature and Composition, a rare addition to the BFI, and have been recognized in national Chinese and regional math competitions.

More broadly, I am a Franco-American who loves exploring the world. I have lived in Noumea, New Caledonia; Saint-Denis, Reunion; New Delhi, India; St. Germain-en-Laye, France; Houston, TX, USA.
